Descripción del producto
Product Overview
Underwater connectors are critical components where reliability is paramount. At depths of 200 meters or more, connecting ROV umbilicals or subsea sensor arrays requires connectors that perform flawlessly under extreme conditions. Our CNC machined copper marine underwater connector bodies are engineered to maintain precise pin alignment, provide reliable pressure seals against water intrusion, and ensure consistent mating performance in challenging subsea environments.
Key Features
  • Pin Bore Precision: Concentricity within 0.02mm to mating reference surface — every bore, every time
  • Seal Groove Accuracy: +/-0.03mm on all O-ring groove dimensions, verified with groove gauges
  • Material Options: C11000 ETP copper with minimum 99.9% Cu, or CuNi 90/10 for maximum corrosion resistance
  • Plating Options: Gold plating on contact surfaces (0.5-1.0μm), nickel underplate for barrier protection
  • Pressure Rating: Machined bodies rated to 50 bar (500m depth) standard, higher ratings available with wall thickness increase
  • Thread Quality: Engagement threads with 6H tolerance — smooth engagement every time, no cross-threading at depth

Applications
  • ROV & AUV Connectors: Wet-mate and dry-mate connector bodies for remotely operated and autonomous underwater vehicles
  • Oceanographic Instruments: Connector bodies for CTD sensors, ADCP current profilers, and water quality monitors
  • Underwater Lighting: Waterproof connector bodies for subsea LED and HID lighting systems
  • Subsea Communications: Connector housings for underwater fiber optic and electrical signal transmission
  • Marine Research: Custom connector bodies for scientific instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Offshore Oil & Gas: Connector interfaces for subsea control systems and monitoring equipment
Why Choose Sinbo Precision
  • Concentricity Control: Pin bore concentricity to mating surface is measured on every piece, not just first article
  • Seal Engineering: Expertise in O-ring groove design for pressure service, including groove fill ratio, gland design, and backup ring requirements
  • Copper Machining at Precision Level: Specialized tooling and coolant strategies for machining pin bores in copper to 0.02mm concentricity
  • Material Flexibility: Ability to machine both CuNi 90/10 for maximum corrosion resistance and C11000 with gold plating for budget-conscious applications
  • Mating Test Coordination: Coordination with qualified labs to verify connector design meets engagement force and cycle life requirements
Manufacturing Process
  1. Design Review: Analysis of pin bore concentricity feasibility, seal groove dimensions at target pressure rating, and material compatibility
  2. Material Procurement: C11000 bar or CuNi 90/10 bar from certified mills with verified conductivity and chemical composition
  3. CNC Machining: Multi-setup precision machining with maintained datum references across all operations
  4. Surface Preparation: Contact surfaces polished to Ra 0.4 or better for plating adhesion; seal groove surfaces deburred
  5. Plating: Gold plating on contact pin bores (0.5-1.0μm over nickel barrier); body plating per specification
  6. Inspection & Testing: Pin bore concentricity measured with CMM; seal groove gauged; pressure testing available on first article
Frequently Asked Questions
C11000 copper or CuNi 90/10 — which should I use?
For signal and low-power connectors where conductivity matters, C11000 with gold plating on contacts is the right choice. For connectors exposed to raw seawater with no protective coating, CuNi 90/10 has vastly better corrosion resistance. The choice depends on whether your connector is sealed (copper OK) or wet-mateable in seawater (CuNi recommended).
Can you machine wet-mateable connector bodies?
Yes. Wet-mate connectors require tighter seal groove tolerances and additional sealing features compared to dry-mate designs. We've machined both types.
What's the maximum number of pins you can machine in one body?
We've done 24-pin configurations in a single connector body. The limiting factor is the body diameter — more pins require more bore-to-bore spacing, which means a larger body.
Do you supply the contact pins and seals?
We machine the body. Contact pins and elastomeric seals are typically sourced from specialized connector component suppliers. We can coordinate if you need help sourcing.
Can you pressure test the connectors?
We can test up to 50 bar in-house using a hydraulic pressure test fixture. For higher pressures, we coordinate with a qualified test lab.
What's the lead time for a first article of a new connector design?
5-10 days typically, depending on complexity. We'll quote a specific lead time after reviewing your drawings.
